Tot Spot

At the Student Wellness and Recreation Center, members can take advantage of our babysitting service.  Tot Spot is located just off the front entrance in the SRWC and has fun games and activities for children.

Academic Year Hours
Monday-Friday 4-8 pm

Please call 48 hours in advance to reserve a spot.  Walk Ins will be accepted upon availability.

Tot Spot Purpose

  • To provide an atmosphere in the baby sitting area that promotes proper care, cleanliness, and safety as our top priority.
  • To provide an enjoyable atmosphere for all children.
  • To provide an atmosphere that makes parents feel confident and comfortable leaving their children in our care.
  • To provide a 4:1 child to attendant ratio whenever possible, and to never exceed a ratio of 6:1.

Tot Spot Staff

  • American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED certified
  • Undergone a criminal background check

Tot Spot Enrollment and Fees

  • Parents should make a reservation up to 48 hours in advance to ensure a space in the room.  Those without a reservation will be turned away if Tot Spot is full (child to attendant ratios are exceeded).
  • Fees are $5 per session, per child with a maximum stay of 2 hours.
  • Fees must be paid at the front desk of the SRWC before dropping your child off.  Tot Spot employees cannot accept payment.
  • Present your receipt to staff upon drop off.
  • Parents will be required to fill out a one-time only registration form the first time they use the service. Please arrive early the first time you use this service in order to fill out the form.
  • A $3 fee will be charged upon late pickup of your child. Regular lateness may result in revoking the right to use Tot Spot.

Tot Spot Policies

  • Ages 4 months to 6 years old.
  • Parents or guardians must remain in the facility while the child is in Tot Spot.
  • A child must be signed in and out by the same parent/guardian who dropped the child off at Tot Spot.
    Parent/Guardian must show ID to pick child up.
  • For the health and safety of all children and staff, sick children are not permitted in Tot Spot. Staff has the right to refuse any child from entering the room due to a suspected illness... This will include children with rashes, fever, running noses, pink eye/conjunctivitis, chicken pox blisters, diarrhea, or vomiting.  Parents will be paged if a child becomes ill while at Tot Spot.
  • For the health of all our participants, no food will be permitted.  Bottles will be accepted.  Sippy cups will be provided for older children to drink water if needed.
  • Parents are asked to change the diapers of babies before they leave for their workout.
  • Parents will be paged in the event an upset child cannot be calmed after ten minutes.
  • Children must wear shoes and socks at all times.
  • If a child does not walk they may be placed in a pack’n play, swing or exersaucer.
  • A child may bring a comfort toy to Tot Spot (such as a stuffed animal, blanket etc...) No electronic toys, small objects, or any other toys that may be unsafe will be allowed.
  • Child’s behavior: at appropriate ages, children will be expected to follow the simple rule of “be safe” and “be kind”.  Children with behavioral issues requiring constant attention cannot be cared for at Tot Spot.  If the staff cannot control the child, Tot Spot is under no obligation to accept the child in the service.
  • Please label all your child’s belongings with his or her name.
