Summer Outdoor Adventure: First Year Outdoor Intro Trip
Our inaugural trip for incoming First-year students. This is an opportunity to meet friends, other students and cool staff and faculty, all while enjoying the great outdoors! We’ll spend time on a ropes course, head to Devil’s Lake State Park for a day of climbing, and kayak, bike and hike around High Cliff State Park.
Dates: Thursday, Aug. 31 – Sunday, Sept. 3 (we return to campus just in time for move-in)
Cost: $75 Just $75 covers all of your food, transportation, camping and activities!!

Rec Fest '17 - Monday, September 4, 2-4pm
Swing by our table at Rec Fest. We’ll be offering free kayak and paddleboard demos and we’ll have the climbing wall open inside the Rec Center. Learn about our fall line-up to trips and clinics and connect with our awesome OAC staff. We’ll be looking for you!
Mindfulness Series with the Counseling Center
This fall we’re excited to partner with our Counseling Center on campus to combine Outdoor Recreation and Mindfulness/Relaxation programs. Check out our collaborative events:
Tuesday, September 5, 2pm-5pm: Kayaking and Yoga
We’ll head out for an hour on the Fox River and return to the kayak dock area to partake in a mindfulness-focused Yoga session. This is all free, but space is limited. Email us at email@example.com to register!
Wednesday, September 13, 3pm-6pm: Kayaking and Yoga
Couldn’t join us the first time? Or just want to enjoy this again? Join us! We’ll head out for an hour on the Fox River and return to the kayak dock area to partake in a mindfulness-focused Yoga session. This is all free, but space is limited. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to register!
Saturday, October 21, 9am-3pm(tbd): Day Hike and Yoga at High Cliff State Park
We’re headed to near-by High Cliff State Park for a morning of hiking and a mindfulness-focused yoga class. Pack a lunch and join us. Limited transportation space is available – email us at email@example.com to secure a spot in our suburban, or you may meet us there.
Cost: $5 if you ride with us, free if you drive yourself (however, you’ll need to pay a vehicle entrance fee to High Cliff SP)
OAC Weekly Clinics
Our clinics are a great way to try a new sport, or meet others that love doing stuff you love to do! All of our clinics are designed to be perfect for first-timers and also provide solid challenge for folks that are well acquainted with the activity. These clinics are FREE! and open to UW Oshkosh Students.

Women's Outdoor Adventure - Monthly Events
The OAC is proud to offer outdoor adventure trips in partnership with the Women’s Center on campus. Geared for women, led by women, these trips are offered for all/any skill levels. We’ll run a new trip once each month; our fall trips are listed below – check back later for our winter and spring offerings.
Women Adventure Outdoors: Kayaking

Backpacking the Ice Age Trail - Friday, Sept. 29 - Sunday, Oct. 1
Join us for a weekend of backpacking up north – No experience and no equipment needed!
We’ll meet Friday afternoon and drive to the Harrison Hills segment of the Ice Age Trail. Covering about 15 miles in 2 days, this is a great way to try backpacking for the first time, or get that “fix” in the middle of the semester.
- Cost – $35 covers everything: transportation, rental equipment, food, etc.!
- Pre-Trip Prep – we will meet a week before the trip to talk through details and talk through equipment.

Climbing Anchors Course - Friday, Oct. 6 - Saturday, Oct. 7
Want to learn how to build your own anchors and set up climbs? This course will cover principles of anchor building for top rope settings; primarily focused on natural anchors, but spending sometime on artificial anchors and other top rope site management skills.
- We’ll leave for Devil’s Lake on Friday afternoon and spend that evening and all of Saturday practicing, building and climbing.
- Cost: $25 covers transportation and camping fees. Food is on your own.
- Pre-reqs: This course is reserved for students that are experienced climbers, belay certified, and familiar with several knots and various belay devices.
- You must have your own harness. All other equipment is provided.
- In addition, a pre-course intro clinic should be attended – more info available.

Climbing at Devil's Lake - Friday, Oct. 6 - Saturday, Oct. 7
Take your climbing to a new level! We’re headed to Devil’s Lake to climb outside. If you’ve been climbing forever, or if you’ve just started, and want to see what’s beyond the gym, this is the trip for you. Here are the deets:
- Cost: Includes transportation, equipment and camping fees. Some food included as well.
- (Option 1) Head to Devil’s Lake Friday afternoon and camp, climb Saturday morning – $30
- (Option 2) Head to Devil’s Lake Saturday morning – climb all day – $20
- It is strongly encouraged that participants are belay certified through the UWO Climbing Wall
- Space is limited to 10. To register, email firstname.lastname@example.org and/or visit us in the office to pay and reserve your spot.
Trip fees indicated are for students and their guests, and cover the cost of transportation and most gear. Trip attendees, however, must provide their own personal gear, e.g. clothing, rain gear, hiking boots, etc.
Single day trips:
Single day trip attendees are expected to provide their own food, snacks and drinks. The OAC and its staff do not provide food or snacks on single day trips.
The cost of food and snacks are included in the trip fee for multi-day trips. Menu planning and special accommodations and needs are all discussed at the pre-trip meeting.
Payment and sign up for outdoor trips is managed at the front desk of the Outdoor Adventure Center. Both the “waiver” and “medical form” are required at the time of payment for the registration process to be considered completed. Student Recreation accepts Titan Dollars, cash, checks and credit cards (Mastercard and Visa).
The Outdoor Adventure Center reserves the right to cancel a trip in the event of inclement weather, schedule conflicts, or if the minimum number of sign-ups were not met. Registrants will be contacted via e-mail to inform them of the cancellation of a trip. A full refund will be issued to registrants if the OAC cancels a trip.
Refunds will only be issued in the event that OAC cancels a trip.
Pre-trip meetings & Departure
Select programs, activities or trips require attendance at a pre-trip meeting. Information discussed and education provided at the pre-trip meetings are related to safety and risk management, elements essential to the enjoyment of the particular activity or trip. Meetings are held in the OAC, and registrants will be informed of the meeting date and time via e-mail. Failure to attend a pre-trip meeting may disqualify a registrant from participation in the activity or trip.
Outdoor Adventures staff and trip attendees all meet at, and depart promptly from the Outdoor Adventure Center.
